My name is Nadine Melissa Nieto, and I am running for Judge to bring positive change to the 285th District Court. With 26 years of experience in Bexar County Civil District Courts, I've represented thousands of clients over the years and I'm eager to give back to our community.
As with many other aspects of our lives, COVID-19 has turned our justice system on its head. As judge, I will work hard to reduce and eliminate the backlog caused by the pandemic. I believe the wheels of justice must continue to turn, and my years of experience practicing in this court will ensure we do this for cases new and old.
Thurgood Marshall once said, “The measure of a country’s greatness is its ability to retain compassion in times of crisis.” I agree with Justice Marshall, and I believe that the measure of a great Judge is their ability to retain compassion for the people they serve.
I understand the importance that comes with serving on a jury. That is why, as Judge, I want to do my part in educating the legislature on the need to increase compensation for jurors to more accurately reflect their importance in our justice system.
